Grooving drilling is another high-end processing technology after continuing the positioning and cutting process of sand table model. It can assist the process in deep processing of sand table model materials to meet the needs of different degrees of model making.
Slotting
Slotting refers to the opening of grooves on the surface of sand table model materials, which can assist the installation of sand table models or play a decorative effect. The opening forms of grooves are generally V-shaped, square, semi-circular and irregular. It is easy to set up V-grooves and square grooves on heavy cardboard, PVC board, PS board and KT board.
In this paper, taking the V-groove on KT board as an example, first of all, the groove profile should be drawn on the surface of the sand table model. One groove should draw two parallel lines, and the distance between them should not exceed 5 mm. The paper cutter first inclines to the inside, then inclines to the outside after cutting along the medial line. The depth of the two cutters should be as same as possible. It's better not to interlace, avoid cutting through the KT board, and the insufficient part can be filled with a knife. The V-shaped groove formed can be folded into a corner shape.
Slotting on other hard materials of sand table models can also be assisted by cutting machine, or special cutting tools and slotting machine tools. If conditions permit, finished decorative slot plates can also be purchased and directly used in sand table models.
